Y is for Yo-Yo : Yo Yo Rapper Girl

Rap song – they are the most trending ones in present era. The rappers have a traditional image of boys being dressed ultra-casually with big chains and hand bands as accessories. The image is certainly changing with time. Pretty girls are making their mark in the field at a slow but steady pace.

Hard Kaur
The first name which popes up when it comes to female rapper in India. Hard Kaur’s, real name is Taran Kaur Dhillon and she is popularly known as India’s first female rap singer. Her personal life has been a struggle right from her childhood. She lost her father at a young age and her mother had to return to her parents because of her burnt and lost beauty salon and nagging in-laws. Even when she moved to US, she had to face discrimination pertaining to her accent. Little did those naggers knew that this very accent would prove her USB one day.
Her first huge it was “ek glassy” which is my personal favorite too.  There is hardly any party which is complete with this peppy number.  Since then she has been part of large collection of hits in Bollywood movies.
What’s more? The girl has even worked with the hip-hop band D-12 of king of rap – Eminem.

Deane Sequeria
I know many people might not know the name. Let me try and reframe it. Heard the song Bezubaan  from ABCD – Any Body Can Dance? The rap portion of song was sung by 15 year old girl called Deane Sequeria. She definitely has the potential and also dreams to become a professional rapper. The rap – “Chaka Laga” for the IPL T20 also belongs to this kid. Her first solo rap song has been written, composed and sung all by herself.
The girl has acclaim of being youngest rapper from India.
